Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant volcano located on Central Plateau of the island, in Curepipe in the district of Plaines Wilhems. It is said that the crater of the volcano is 80 meters deep and around 300 meters in diameter. For the xperts the volcano is only dormant and that it can be active in the next thousand years. Even though it is only 80 meters deep it quite impressive when one stands in front of the crater and looks down. During clear weather you can have a fabulous panoramic view of the island including Les Trois Mamelles, Mont St Pierre, Corps de Garde and the Rempart Mountain, .

The volcano was formed millions of years ago, and now it is choked with a dense forest, silt and water.
