By the end of the year, Mahanagar Telephone Mauritius Ltd (MTML) hopes to target 30,000 subscribers. Since its launch in November 2011, MTML reached 25,000 subscribers.
“We received a welcome that has exceeded our expectations. We expected 25,000 subscribers by December, we have already exceeded this goal” said Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sanjay Garg. MTML, whose slogan is “alternative technology is hot, cool it pocket,” offers through Chile, services that are between 40% and 50% cheaper than those offered by other operators. “For a one-minute call on the GSM network, we facture 1rs, while it is generally 3Rs,” says Sanjay Garg.
Employing 14 Indian expatriates and 70 Mauritians, MTML, which is currently at Sodnac, Quatre-Bornes, will be located in a new building in January 2013. The construction of the headquarters is taking place in the Cybercity Ebene. At a cost of Rs 200 million, it will house the administrative and commercial services of the company.
